The institute found that the use of sanitary towel and paper towels reduced the risk of skin cancer by about a third compared to a standard washing and drying regimen, the Korea Herald reported.

In the study, the institute said that there was no evidence that washing and dry cleaning helped reduce the risk.

It found that while washing hands with sanitary paper towels lowered the risk, a washing and dampening with a standard towel or towel cloth reduced the overall risk of cancer by 10.5 percent, the report said.

The study also showed that a standard wash with water and soap reduced the incidence of skin cancers by 14 percent compared to using the same wash with a normal soap, but there was little difference between a standard and sanitary washing and dressing.
